We used to drive 6-7 hours to go to the Bristol races, but after the first race at the new "progressive" banked reconfiguration in 2007, have since stayed home. What was Bruton Smith thinking, ruining the most successful and exciting venue in all of motorsports? The drivers may well prefer the "new" Bristol, but the fans are staying away in droves. After all, it IS the fans who ultimately pay the freight! In recent years I find myself tuning in on the tv with about 40 laps to go, knowing I won't be missing anything. Bristol has become just a shorter version of the cookie cutter (boring) mile and a halfs littering the Nascar landscape. As for Bristol, it's not the economy, it's the lack of exciting racing that has caused the massive dropoff in attendance. And the clueless tv announcers (Waltrip McReynolds and Joy) try as hard as they can to put a positive Nascar spin on it, to convince the fans to come back, but all they've done is just lose their credibility. Count on this, the fans won't return in their former numbers until a much closer version of the old Bristol returns.

Hard to put a sponsor on a car when you give them all to Carl Edwards. Matt Kenseth WINS the Daytona 500 with Best Buy yet has to share that with Carl? Carl Edwards is nothing but a points racer. That's it. He doesn't even try to win races, just worries about his points. If I had the money I would sponsor Trevor over Carl any day.

Roush has developed a reputation of only accepting money. He refuses to whine and dine his sponsors. He went from 5 fully funded Sprint Cars to 2.5 fully funded and 3 full Nationwide entries to 1.2 No bother looking at truck series. How are other teams adding sponsors(JGR, which asked Home Depot to step down its role). Roush is asking for too much money. Look at Discount Tire as a prime example.

Chip ain't running the only one running the team. Well if anything, Teressa lost the #1 sponsor in Nascar and the #1 rated driver. Not dissing the whole Earnhardt team but....... yeah just saying I think she teamed up with Ganassi to keep the team name in the sport. You shouldn't diss ganassi for helping, but youll all just get mad at reading this so doesnt really matter does it? Once the economy settles (if you pay any attention to news) this merger isnt permanet so continue on dissing everybody that doesnt have Earnhadt in their names....

For the misinformed, don't get your underwear in a bundle, if you were a serious racing fan and paid attention at the time. Chip Ganassi stated several times when the merge happened that Teressa Earnhardt has the option to opt of the merger at anytime. She owns the #1 car, and Chip runs it out of his shop as Earnhardt-Ganassi Racing.

Everyone is forgetting that it is called EARNHARDT-Ganassi Racing, not just Ganassi Racing! Earnhardt is tied to Chevrolets and if Chip Ganassi was smart enough, he would stay with Chevy. I do think the past champion spot should be done away with. It is hard enough for active drivers not in the top 35 to make it into the race competing against each other week after week, why take a spot away for someone who only shows up for a few events each year? Past champions should have to earn their way in just like anybody else. In fact I'd like to see those quarented top 35 slots done away with too. I know all about the sponsorships and the money spent on those top teams - but if they are so good, they should be able to make it into the field evry week based on the time trials, just like the others have to.
