Really? Jimmy Spencer Does Not Approve of Childress' Actions?

It was a hot August day in Brooklyn, Michigan in 2003 when Jimmy Spencer had enough. He and young hotshot Kurt Busch had been sparring back and forth both verbally and on the track since Busch's rookie season in 2001. After Kurt Busch admittedly tried to take a swipe at Spencer's tire, the old man snapped. Spencer bumped Busch as they headed to the garage. When Busch's car stalled in front of Spencer's hauler, with some less than flattering remarks directed at Spencer, the then-46-year-old threw the punch heard around the NASCAR world, and it connected with the then-25-year-old.

Spencer's punch immediately ended the feud. The two men never had another disagreement again, in fact, they are now friends. Spencer's fist fixed the issue with Busch.

Many fans and analysts have applauded Richard Childress for giving Busch's younger brother Kyle a taste of his fist. However, I was stunned by one who did not applaud Childress' actions, Jimmy Spencer.

I was interested in Spencer's opinion regarding Childress/Busch the incident considering the infamous 2003 Michigan beatdown. I expected him to praise Childress. Instead, he firmly stated that he did not agree with the way Childress handled the situation, and even went as far as to say he regretted his part in the 2003 punching of Kurt Busch.

Now, this is the same Jimmy Spencer that handed Kyle Busch a crying towel on his segment on SPEED's Race Hub, and then jumped on Childress for not leaving a distinctive mark on Busch. It is difficult to understand the strange shift of opinions here. Either Spencer's crying towel was meant for entertainment as well as a few giggles, or the opinion piece he wrote on SPEED is not a genuine as he would like for it to appear. Either way, it is difficult to take him seriously.

This is not the same Jimmy Spencer. This is the Jimmy Spencer NASCAR'S new lackey. Jimmy and Larry McReynolds are a disgrace. Their opinion is whatever NASCAR wants it to be.

Once Jimmy Spencer hung up his helmet and became an announcer, the first thing NASCAR did was neuter him.

There are probably a couple of reasons that Mr Spencer has taken the stance he has on the incident.

1. Since he was removed from a significant level of programs or media related to Nascar, he is trying to get back in the 'good graces' with the Nascar and Media Executives.

2. Since he wears a toupee, the fumes from the glue or adhesive that holds it on have probably affected his judgement.

They used to call him 'Mr Excitement, but I think his new nickname should be 'Mr Excrement'!

Jimmy's job is to create conflict. Too bad he isn't intelligent enough to remember his stance from the previous day. I leave The
Hub when his portion comes on.
Can't SPEED come up with someone without his pompousness to
provide editorial comment?
